We first discovered this gem three ago, and it's been our go-to retreat ever since. Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Ainstable near Penrith, it feels like a secret slice of paradise every time we visit. We always opt for the dinner, bed, and breakfast rate - and honestly, the food is five star plus. The standard is so exceptional, it could easily hold it's own in the very heart of London. Every dish, from breakfast to dinner, is cooked with care, flair, and fresh, homemade quality. Breakfast in particular is a dream: plush, generous, and absolutely delicious. The rooms are equally impressive. Whether you choose a standard double or one of the more luxurious options, every detail is carefully thought out, making your stay both comfortable and memorable. It's a true family-run business, and Damon, his parents, and Dave and the entire team are just heaven. Nothing is too much trouble, and their warmth and genuine care make us feel incredibly welcome - and, frankly, very humble each time we leave. They're not open early in the week (usually Thursday to Sunday), and they host many weddings - and for good reason! The venue, scenery, and gardens are simply stunning. I can imagine no better backdrop for a special day. To Damon, his family, and all the staff: thank you for making every stay unforgettable. Absolutely outstanding! My husband and I have been to many a hotel for a break away from the kids and the dogs. The Heather Glen is only 15 minutes away from home but we could have been anywhere! Room was absolutely beautiful. Spotless, every thing you could possibly hope for. The bed was so comfy. the bath was stunning and the shower was superb. Just perfect. We were in room 1. The food was absolutely incredible. I had the filo duck starter and my husband had liver pate. For mains we had the steak pie and gammon. Both were exceptional. We ended with a three sweet desert and a cheese board. Amazing! the staff are an absolute credit! so nice and friendly and could not do more for you! Breakfast was incredible too! Can't wait to go back!
